Vinyl Flooring Myths Debunked

4/24/2017

In decades past, vinyl tile and flooring has come and gone in popularity. When you think of vinyl, though, you probably imagine the outdated flooring that wears easily and doesn't stand up to traffic well. We want to show you a new modern vinyl that changes ALL of those stereotypes. If you've been afraid of updating your home with luxury vinyl, here are a few vinyl myths debunked to ease your mind.

Myth: Vinyl Flooring is Outdated and Unattractive

This myth is probably one of the first things that keeps people from even looking into vinyl for their home - but this myth needs to be debunked! Vinyl flooring, whether in tile, plank or sheet form is now made to look like may different materials from wood to stone or tile. No matter what color or style you're trying to achieve, Barefoot Floors can help you find a vinyl flooring that will match.

Myth: All Vinyl Flooring is the Same

Not all vinyl flooring is the same. In fact, vinyl flooring has more diversity than many flooring types. Because vinyl flooring can be made in any color and pattern, it can mimic ceramic tile, wood, and any other pattern you can imagine. Not to mention, every type of vinyl flooring can vary depending on quality, durability and more. When looking for the best flooring at the Lake of the Ozarks, come to Barefoot Floors and let us show you what to look for.

Myth: Vinyl Flooring is Hard to Install

Vinyl flooring can actually be incredibly easy to install, and quick too. There are two types of vinyl flooring that are popular, one is floating, meaning it won't need an adhesive to stay put. It is generally secured by interlocking planks that are then held in place by trim installed above it along the wall (similar to laminate). You can also find vinyl flooring that is installed with an adhesive to keep it secured. Both types can be installed in as little as a few hours depending on the size of your room.

Myth: Vinyl is Cheap

Actually, some vinyl flooring can cost the same as tile and wood - but that doesn't mean you should just assume tile is a better choice. Many homeowners like the feel and the look of vinyl tiles over ceramic tiles, even if the price is the same. Vinyl is water resistant, like tile, but it is generally easier to walk on, softer to fall on or drop something on, is generally warmer than ceramic tile. It is also incredibly durable and may even require less maintenance. Unlike ceramic tile, you won't have to worry about tiles coming loose or grout coming out of the seams. If you need to replace pieces, it's generally quite easy.
